This documentary DVD was written and produced by monks of Self-Realization Fellowship in 2004. It follows Paramahansa Yogananda's early footsteps in America from 1920 to 1928, covering his pioneering efforts to introduce Kriya Yoga to the West. Arriving in Boston in 1920, the documentary shows wonderful archival images of the places Yogananda stayed and lectured, including images with his first American disciple, (Sister Yogmata) and the first Boston group, which included Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. It follows him across America to Los Angeles in 1924, where he founded
the Self-Realization Fellowship headquarters at Mount Washington, in Los
Angeles.
The documentary is beautifully narrated and includes some rare motion-picture footage of the Guru. It is the first in what will hopefully be a succession of documentaries covering his life work.
