| Well, we weren't at Woodstock in 1969, but we were in Encinitas for this live recording in 2009 and it was definitely a love-fest!
If you
haven't heard Swami Nirvanananda chanting before, you have missed a treat. Live in Encinitas 2009 is one of the best recordings of Swami Nirvanananda and typifies his warm, devotional chanting. This album was recorded during one of his annual pilgrimages to Southern California and SRF's Convocation. As
with all of the Swami's CDs, each track is dedicated to Paramahansa Yogananda.
A gifted musician, Swami Nirvanananda brings beauty and devotion to all his
music. With his beautiful voice and 'orchestral' harmonium playing, Swami
Nirvanananda will transport you to the feet of Divine Mother.
Tracks:
1. Shanti Manras / Ganesha Sharanam - listen:
2. Karpura Gauram / Om Namah Shivaya - listen: 3. Shankara Shiva Shankara
4. Arunachala Hara - listen:
5. Anandamayi, Chaitanya Mayi
6. He Govinda, He Gopala, He Vasudeva
7. Remind Me, My Lord
8. Thank You
About the artist:
Swami
Nirvanananda was born in Italy
and after travelling to India
many years ago was initiated into the swami order and became a wandering monk.
Although he did not join the Yogoda Satsanga Society Order, his Guru is
Paramahansa Yogananda which makes him quite unusual among swamis. A gifted
musician, Swami Nirvanananda spends much of his time travelling the world
chanting to the Master. Each year he travels to Italy
and other countries in Europe, then to the United
States and on to Hawaii,
before returning to India.
He has several CDs which we will gradually add to our collection.
We had the
pleasure of meeting Swami Nirvanananda at one of the many kirtans he gives
around the world and found in him a very sweet and humble soul. Given how he
chants, that was no surprise. Swami attends the SRF convocation each year but
he is so quiet when not chanting that he is easy to miss - as we did for twenty
years! If you get a chance to hear him chant live, we recommend you do so.
All
proceeds to Swami Nirvanananda's CDs go to support his charitable
projects in and around Puri, in the East Indian state of Orissa. For more
