set is for traditional bhajan purists only. From the CD cover: Taped live at
the Yogoda Satsanga Society Ranchi Ashram during a ceremony dedicated to the
Divine Mother of the Universe, this impromptu performance was simply recorded
with the equipment at hand. Authentic, hauntingly beautiful Bengali bhajans
take you on a musical and spiritual odyssey that moves through more than 30
different songs and prayers, led by the Sri. S.N. Sen and his wife Srimati Sen, (later Brahmacharini Mirabai), who were well known throughout India
for their stirring renditions of traditional Indian devotional music.

About
the artist: The
late Sri Sachinandan Sen and his wife, Srimati Renuka Sen, later known as,
Brahmacharini Mirabai (1926 - 2006), were highly acclaimed musicians, well
recognized throughout India.
In 1966, they entered the Yogoda Satsanga Society (Self-Realization Fellowship
in India)
ashram in Ranchi,
to devote their life to the service of God. After her husband's passing,
Brahmacharini Mirabai took formal vows as a monastic, and served and resided in
the ashrams of YSS of India until her passing, carrying on the work of the
Yogoda Sangeet Kala Bharati (Indian School of Music), which she and her
husband founded.
