Markoe is one known as THE composer of new age music. We first met Gerald back
in 2003 when he was planning this wonderful CD. We gave him a copy of
Paramahansa Yogananda's Cosmic Chants which he eagerly received as he was
unaware that there was sheet music of the Master's chants. He told us of his
experience meeting Brother Bhaktananda back in the 1960's in
Encinitas. Such was the effect of that meeting that Gerald remembered all the
details forty years later! It was during that encounter with Brother that the
seed was planted to create a CD of Yogananda's chants. The result is Celestial
Music for Yoga, special arrangements of Paramahansa Yogananda's Cosmic Chants.
Performed by Gerald, the synthesizer instruments include harp, sitar, strings,
flute, oboe and cello.

Gerald Jay
Markoe began his practice of yoga at the age of nine. At nineteen he stayed at
the Encinitas retreat where he met Brother Bhaktananda, who had a profound
impact on his life. His classical music training was at the Juilliard and Manhattan
schools of music. His new age albums have reached #1 on the charts. Sadly,
Gerald Jay Markoe passed away in 2009. He was a gentle soul.
