Description

Arpan is a wonderful double album follow-up to Anjali. Brahmacharini Mirabai brings a devotional intensity to these bhajans that expresses the timeless spiritual consciousness and soul-yearing that have characterized India's culture since ancient times. As is customary in the spiritual traditions of India, these beautiful chants invoke the presence and blessings of the one Divine Spirit.

Recorded during a pilgrimage to Paramahansa Yogananda's ashrams in America in 1997, the chants are accompanied by traditional Indian instrumentation including harmonium, tabla, sitar, sarod, flute, tanpura, and surmandal, and have been digitally remastered and enhanced to preserve the spirit and mood chartacteristic of Brahmacharini Mirabai's live performances.
